Payroll Deposit Direct-deposit-form We HIGHLY encourage all participants/employees to have Direct Deposit. There are two ways for members/leaders to receive their pay. This document (Payroll Method Comparison) provides an overview and is intended to be distributed to incoming members/leaders in order for them to make a decision. Paper paychecks will continue to be an option, although receipt of earnings by those individuals choosing this method will be significantly delayed compared to the electronic transfer methods. Payroll Payroll Method Comparison Please introduce “direct deposit” as the standard payroll method since this is much simpler for both the crew member and for the processing staff.   Paper paychecks will continue to be an option, although receipt of earnings by those individuals choosing this method will be significantly delayed compared to the electronic transfer methods.

Website/Job Postings Website Guidelines Our website is one of the main ways potential applicants get to know SCC and the opportunities we offer. It works best if it is quick to navigate, clear in its language, and attractive in its format. We have a website developer that helps us with particular issues, but has also set up the site to be fairly easy to self-manage. Only certain staff is provided access to make changes in the website, this includes Recruiting Coordinators. It is important however, that the Recruiting Coordinators work together and with Amy on needed adjustments to the site as our communication needs to potential applicants change.

These AmeriCorps grants represent a significant source of organizational funding (over $500,000 in 2010, not including the value of the education awards). Currently SCC has one National Direct grant of its own and is a sub-grantee of several other grants through other organizations.

  • National Direct Grant – Climate Corps supports fully funded members in all regions
  • Sub-Grant through The Corps Network – EAP (Education Award Program) supports ed awards for all regions
  • Sub-Grant through CYCA (Colorado Youth Corps Association) – EAP supports ed awards for in CO regions
  • Sub-Grant through MACC (Mountain Alliance of Conservation Corps) – Supports fully funded members in the FC region

Many of our members will enroll as AmeriCorps members along with being a Corpsmember of SCC. AmeriCorps members are Americans of all ages who have made a commitment to serve their communities and country. Since 1994, more than 250,000 people have served in AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps members range in age from seventeen to older than ninety. Some have college degrees; others have completed high school or are earning a GED. They reflect the diversity of America in age, ethnicity, education, race, gender, and religion.

AmeriCorps has four main goals:

  1. Getting Things Done. AmeriCorps members help communities solve problems in the areas of education, public safety, the environment, and other human needs (like health and housing) by serving directly and by getting other people to serve as volunteers.
  2. Strengthening Communities. AmeriCorps members help unite individuals from all different backgrounds—and organizations of all kinds—in a common effort to improve communities.
  3. Encouraging Responsibility. AmeriCorps members explore and exercise their responsibilities to their communities, their families, and themselves—during their service experience and throughout their lives.
  4. Expanding Opportunity. AmeriCorps helps those who help America. AmeriCorps members receive awards to further their education or to pay back student loans. They also gain valuable job experience, specialized training, and other skills.

As an AmeriCorps member there are certain additional responsibilities and policies that they must be aware of and follow. These are listed in the AmeriCorps agreement that the member will sign. Depending on the length of service the member will also receive and education award. Details of the award are also listed in the agreement. There is much more information about participation, the expectations of being an AmeriCorps member or about the education award on the AmeriCorps website www.americorps.gov.
