Program Overview  – Better the land – Better yourself!

The SCC High School Camping Crew engages motivated young adults, ages 16-18, in a program that combines education and training with impactful conservation and service projects throughout Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. Projects may include trail construction & maintenance, habitat improvement, re-vegetation, and local environmental service projects.  This program focuses on engaging local youth in meaningful learning and service opportunities in their communities.

Each crew consists of 8 members and 2 leaders. Crews are in the field the entire 4 weeks (participants will not be able to go home during this time), working and camping in frontcountry and backcountry locations in all types of weather conditions.  Crews prepare all their own meals (food is provided) and work together as a group to accomplish a variety of educational, team-building and conservation goals.

Participants may only sign up for a single session in a given year.  Some gear will be provided.  There will be an optional parent meeting the first day of each session.
