SCC kicked off the Holiday Season in Salida with a stellar entry in the annual Parade of Lights.  Los Valles staff and several local Learn & Serve corpsmembers decorated a rig and trailer with lights, tinsel, a tent, a few tools and trail flagging to represent the “Spirit of Conservation.”  The parade took place November 26th in Downtown Salida and was accompanied by the lighting of “Christmas Mountain” - a 750-foot high tree outlined in Christmas lights on S-Mountain.  Hundreds of community members cheered for SCC as corpsmembers threw candy and led the crowd in several holiday carols.  The parade was great exposure for SCC in the off season and the float was awarded 2nd place in the Non-profit category.
