2010 Regional Forester HONOR AWARDS

Award Recipients this year received a hand crafted award created by Corbin Clay.

Partner of the year- For demonstrated sustained superior effort in bringing partnerships to action. Southwest Conservation Corps and Veteran’s Green Jobs, nominated by the San Juan NF.

Water Partner of the year- For demonstrated outstanding achievement in land stewardship an conservation activities that measurably further the goals of the Rocky Mountain Region’s emphasis for the management of water resources. Denver Water, nominated by the Regional Office Physical Resources Staff.

Recreation Partner of the year- For demonstrated outstanding achievement in land stewardship an conservation activities that measurably further the goals of the Rocky Mountain Region’s emphasis for the management of recreation uses and opportunities. Historicorps, nominated by the Rio Grande NF.

Forest and Grassland Heath Partner of the year- For demonstrated outstanding achievement in land stewardship and conservation activities that measurably further the goals of the Rocky Mountain Regions emphasis and strategy for the management of healthy forests and grasslands.  Bonanza Stakeholders Group, nominated by the Rio Grande NF.

Regional Leadership- For demonstrated commitment, quality of relationships, inspirational attitude and actions, competency, consistency, credibility and trust.  Regional Lands Team, Steve Rinella and Nancy Hollenkamp, nominated by director of Physical Resources, Randy Karstaedt and the Black Hills NF.

Regional Forester’s Special Recognition- For demonstrated sustained superior effort or action.

John Warder, Fire Management Officer, and forest Safety Officer for the Bighorn National Forest.

Recreation Emphasis-  For Outstanding commitment to furthering the goals of the Region’s Recreation Emphasis. Dave Anderson and Jean Anderson, Bighorn NF.

Multicultural Organization-  For demonstrated accomplishment in strengthening relationships, reaching under-served populations and improving  mutual respect of employees and the public.  Pikes Peak Ranger District,  Pike & San Isabel NF and Cimarron & Comanche  NG.

Sustainable Operations-  For commitment to and demonstrated contribution towards sustainable operations through project accomplishments, partnerships and / or education to reduce our ecological footprint on the work in which we live. Boxelder Job Corps, nominated by the Black Hills NF.

Safety Leadership- For demonstrated commitment to safety, and/or actions that enhance the occupational health and safety environment. Leadville Ranger District, Pike & San Isabel NF and Cimarron & Comanche NG.

District of the Year -  For the district who demonstrates leadership, teamwork, community connection, responsiveness to challenges, innovation, creativity, workforce vitality and morale, and resource stewardship. Sulphur  Ranger District, Arapaho Roosevelt NF and Pawnee NG.
