Have you heard about the Weatherization Crew?
Posted by sccadmin on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010.It’s not just about how we look. It’s all about how we work! Most commonly, clients who we work for would say we look like Ghost Busters. Complete with the white Tyvek suits, full face respirators, and a truck and trailer full of toys, tools, and insulation, the SCC Weatherization crew is commonly mistaken for the classic; yet brave ghost-busting crew.
We don’t have the old-school goo-spraying backpacks that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd wore, but we do have a new-age cellulose and fiberglass-spraying Krendyl machine that sits in 4CORE’s 18ft. trailer and is run on a generator.
We don’t have a nerdy secretary, but we do temporarily have an injured office and paperwork assistant.
And unfortunately, we are not busting ghosts. Instead, we are busting energy wasting appliances and air leaks. We are not standing in the middle of a large dining hall, going to town with our goo-spraying backpacks. We get the honor of helping homeowners by doing the work that they would never think of doing themselves. Diving into dark, damp, spider and snake infested crawl spaces to install insulation under client’s homes, sweating profusely in a client’s 110 degree attic while sealing and insulating their heating system, all while practicing new and unheard of yoga moves to steer clear of falling through a clients ceiling.
So why do we do it? For me, it’s challenging and satisfying. I get the chance to truly push myself into tight crawl spaces and hot attics. A place that once made me claustrophobic is now a place where I can get into the grove of the work that I am doing. I can feel free to flow through the day, yet still feel accomplished at the end of the day. This job is extremely satisfying because the clients that we help honestly appreciate, and need, the work that we are doing for them. It just tickles my heart knowing that the client’s can feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed knowing that the ghosts…er….heating and cooling bills will virtually disappear.

Super!
Good work gang. Looking forward to an evaluation on my place come Thanksgiving!!
Keep up the good work, Sandra
I could not have been blessed with a better crew! Great work!
I wish that I had some of these suits for everyone to wear at my wedding. Everone looks absolutely stunning in them.
I would like to thank the crew for all of your beautiful, though mostly unseen work. Winter is coming and it will be appreciated.
