SCC Welcomes New Board Members

Posted by sccadmin on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010.

SCC is excited to welcome new Board Members to Four Corners and Sonoran Desert regions. Landis Ehler and Lauren Ellison will be serving on the Four Corners Board and Gary Cox will be serving on the Sonoran Desert Board. The new members will bring vast knowledge and extensive experience to help strengthen the existing SCC Board.

Ehler will add a unique perspective because of his first-hand experience of being a crewmember and crew leader. In the fall of 2008, he was a crewmember on a Four Corners trail crew and in the winter of 2009, he moved on to be an Education Outreach Program (EOP) crew leader. Elher was inspired by his experiences working with SCC and is currently pursuing a career in the National Park Service at Aztec Ruins National Monument.

Ellison has an extensive and diverse background in science, teaching, and knowledge of the Southwest. She has gained this experience from her work as co-owner of Wolfe Construction, Science Field Researcher with the US Forest Service, a middle school, high school and college science and math teacher and the Lead Teacher and Program Coordinator at the Adult Education Center in Durango. Ellison is currently the Transition Coordinator for San Juan Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

Cox is currently the Supervisor of Transmission Maintenance and Vegetation Management for Tucson Electric Power Co. His past experience includes: Civil Grade Checker for Borderland Construction and Saddle Brooke Development, General Forman for KE&G Construction and Air Traffic Controller for the United States Air Force. He has a wide variety of skills that include arboriculture, computer programming, and translating civil drawings and blueprints.

We look forward to the insight and knowledge that the new Board Members will bring to the table!
