SCC Welcomes New Staff!

This January, SCC welcomed four new staff, Laura Faubion ( Program Development Coordinator, Four Corners), Ryan Schreiner (Program  Coordinator, Four Corners), Nick Cheney (Program Coordinator, Los Valles).

Laura hails from New Orleans, where she spent nearly 3 years working with AmeriCorps rebuilding homes for the elderly and low-income families in response to Hurricane Katrina. Laura also has a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and a Master’s in Public Administration and has traveled to Cuba, Chile and Honduras. In her free time Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as with her loyal companion, Bud and Spaz.

Ryan, a recent graduate of Fort Lewis College, originally hails from Chicago where he spent the last fews years working with adolescence in a therapeutic residential high school as a Residential and Classroom Counselor.  Before coming to Durango, Ryan also worked on the Pacific Crest Trail as a crewleader.  In his free time, Ryan enjoys flyfishing, camping, backpacking and exploring the Four Corners region.

Nick, a native of New England, arrived in Salida fresh from a season guiding kayak trips in Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska.  A graduate of Prescott College, Nick has worked as job skills trainer on the Wind River Indian Reservation, a field leader for the Montana Conservation Corps, and spent three seasons leading volunteer trail crews for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation. In his spare time, Nick enjoys hanging out with dogs, meditating, eating high-quality oatmeal and anything else that involves fresh air and exercise.
