SCC Hosts ECO Visit

Posted by SCC on Monday, November 17th, 2008.

SCC hosted its Excellence in Corps Operations (ECO) renewal visit on November 12-15 in Durango.  ECO visitors Allen Dietz (Executive Director, NW Washington Rural Health Foundation), Stephanie Wu (Senior Vice-President, City Year), Marty O’Brien (COO and Vice-President, The Corps Network) and Mary Ellen Ardouny (Director of Government Relations, The Corps Network) engaged in three days of meetings, site visits and information sharing.  Most importantly to SCC, the visitors had significant expertise in multi-site management and providing suggestions, recommendations and ideas to support SCC’s operations across four offices and five states.

ECO is a peer assessment process which recognizes Corps that make a commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvement.  Its purpose is to promote and recognize excellence in the Corps movement and provide evidence of a Corps’ continued self and outside evaluation.   SCC scheduled the ECO visit to coincide with its annual Board Retreat.  This allowed the ECO visitors to present their recommendations directly to the Board and then engage with Board and staff members in strategizing how to integrate the recommendations into SCC’s growth and development.
